Canyoning in the Fratarica Gorge is an adventure without comparison, blending natural beauty, an adrenaline-fueled atmosphere, and unforgettable fun. After a 45-minute drive to the village of Log pod Mangartom, we set off on foot towards the base of the Loške stene (eng. Loške Walls), where our adventure begins. Along the way, we admire the nearly 50-meter-high Parabola waterfall, which we later descend. Fratarica is a steep, watery gorge that demands the use of all canyoning techniques: sliding, jumping, and rappelling. Besides the thrilling jumps and descents over waterfalls, we can observe the pristine nature surrounding us and the unique water ecosystem thriving only in crystal-clear water. The Fratarica Canyon lies within the Triglav National Park and is protected by nature conservation regulations. It's a gem of canyoning in Slovenia, so during our visit, we take care not to burden it, preserving it for future generations. The journey through the canyon lasts approximately 3 unforgettable hours, passing incredibly quickly amidst the abundance of fun.

EQUIPMENT

Equipment is of paramount importance when it comes to sports activities such as canyoning. It provides comfort and safety to the user, which is why at Azimut Center, we only use the best equipment available on the market. For canyoning with us, you only need your swimwear, towel, dry clothes, and sunscreen. We'll take care of everything else. You will receive 5 pieces of equipment - a helmet, 7 mm neoprene wetsuit, canyoning harness, neoprene socks, and specialized canyoning shoes. If you have your own canyoning equipment, you can bring it with you to the meeting point (our office) before the scheduled start of the activity. The guide will assess whether your equipment is suitable and safe for use in this activity.

LICENSED GUIDES

Azimut Center is an official Canyoning Association of Slovenia Guide center. Canyoning is a beautiful sport as long as it is safe. This is why safety is always our top priority, of course, with fun right behind it. But to truly enjoy the beauties of the canyon, you need a guide who ensures your safety first and foremost, while also ensuring you have fun every step of the way. All of Azimut Center’s canyoning guides are professionally trained and licensed as Wildwater Rescuers and Canyoning Guides.

Don't worry, it's quite simple! You arrive at our office in Tolmin, where you meet your guide, sign a waiver form, and collect your canyoning equipment. Then we will take you to the starting point in the village of Log pod Mangartom, where your adventure begins! Towels, dry clothes, and other personal items (except passports and larger amounts of money - you can leave them in the office) stay in the van. At the end of the activity, you return to the starting point. There, you change into dry clothes, and we drive you back to our office.

CANYONING SAFETY GUIDELINE

In Slovenia, a canyoning guide is unfortunately not a regulated profession, which means that practically anyone with a wild water rescuer license can take you on a canyoning trip, but according to the official opinion of the Slovenian Canyoning Association, they do not have sufficient knowledge to do so. All clients, interested in a guided canyoning trip are advised to request a guide with an up-to-date Slovenian Canyoning Association canyoning guide or assistant guide license from the company providing the activity (both licenses meet the standards for independent guiding of canyons leveled 1 - 3, which includes also the Fratarica Canyon). The training of these guides is modeled on the former CIC international license, which was recognized in practically all Alpine countries and elsewhere in the world. Be your own fortune smith, choose safety!
